Is it safe for baby chicks/ducks?

Yes! Our hemp bedding is great for baby chicks/ducks because it has little to no dust, making it better for their sensitive respiratory systems

Is it safe to put into the compost?

Yes, hemp bedding has a neutral PH making it a great addition to your compost, and it also breaks down faster than other beddings such as pine shavings

How much bedding should I put in my brooder?

This depends on how big your brooder is, but a good rule of thumb is to have about a 1 inch thick layer

Is your bedding organic & how long does it last?

Our bedding is 100% naturally made in the USA and is free of pesticides, herbicides, and other harmful chemicals. It is tough to say and depends on multiple different factors, but our customers say it lasts anywhere from 2-4 months

Nesting Pad FAQs

How long do the nesting pads last?

About 1 month, depending on how messy your chickens are. Although, we have heard feedback from many customers saying they last longer

Do I take the paper on the bottom off?

Leave it on. The nesting pads absorb moisture and draws it down to the kraft paper where it absorbs it.

Is it normal that my chickens are tearing them apart?

Sometimes chickens take awhile to get used to new things, so they might tear them apart the first few times they go to lay in them

What are the nesting pads made out of?

USA grown and sustainably harvested aspen excelsior

My chickens are pecking at and eating the nesting material, is it safe for them to ingest?

Chickens might peck at new things to get a feel for what they are- we recommend contacting a poultry vet with any concerns

They are grown on organic pre-consumer waste

How much can I feed my flock?

We recommend giving it to them as a treat and not exceeding 10% of their diet

Can these be fed to baby chicks/ducks?

They can be given as early as 1 week, as long as the grubs are ground up into small pieces. Make sure your chicks also have access to grit to aid in their digestion
